Environmental Education

Experiential learning programs that illuminate scientific concepts and empower students to become enironmental and community stewards throughout their lives!

Bring your students to our residential site or let our naturalists come to your school - either way, we'll take your students outside of the classroom for hands-on learning in nature's laboratory.  Whether visiting tide pools, studying insects at the
pond, playing eco-games or cleaning up the neighborhood park, students learn about and experience their connections to the natural world.  By weaving a thread of choice and impact throughout our programs, we empower students to become active stewards of the environment within their own communities.   All of our programs are based on California State Science Standards and tailored to meet the individual needs of participating teachers and students.

Outdoor Education Program
Join us in the Marin Headlands, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, for two to five day residential programs based at our historic campus!  Or check out our one-day Coast Trek Program. During all-day hikes throughout the park and night programs hosted by our naturalists,  students discover their connections to science, the natural world, and each other.

High School Science & Service Learning

Supplement your classroom science lessons with real-world, outdoor, service learning projects!  Day-trips to the Marin Headlands increase students' field observation and data collection skills and understanding of how environmental changes affect the health of our planet.

Coast Trek

A quick taste of our Outdoor Education program through a day hike in the Marin Headlands! Come explore the spectacular California coast and its unique ecosystems through a field trip your students are certain to remember.

Programs at Your School Site:

Urban School

Let our naturalists take your students through an ecological journey on their schools grounds! Then, we'll take them one step further into nature during a day-long field trip to the Marin Headlands or a nearby natural area! Students learn about watersheds, ecology, and habitats through engaging activities interspersed with team-building challenges.

My Home, My Community, My World

Help your students discover the world outside of their classroom doors!  During regular visits throughout the school year, our naturalists guide teachers and students in the exploration of their schoolyard, neighborhood, and local open spaces.   Individual half-day and full-day lessons are also available at your school site!
